Section 1. Configuring your IP Address

This section of the help page will instruct you how to configure your Cisco ATA via DHCP or with a Static IP address.

DHCP

If your network utilizes a DHCP Server to assign IP Addresses to network devices, or if you are connecting the ATA to a home router such as a Linksys or Netgear router, please do the following:

  1. Plug your ATA into your Network and connect the power cord.
  2. Connect an analog telephone into the "phone 1" port on the back of the ATA
  3. Pick up the telephone and press the button on top of the ATA. You will hear a voice prompt that says "Configuration Menu."
  4. Press the keys 8, 0, # on your analog phone. The system will now read back the IP address of your ATA. Please write it down. (If the IP address does not make sense within the context of your network, or if it is 0.0.0.0, then you need to make sure that the ATA is configured to look for DHCP. Press 2,0,# to access the DHCP menu, then 1,# to enable DHCP, and then press 3 to save. Disconnect and the reconnect the ATA power cord and then repeat steps 3 and 4.)
  5. Hang up the telephone and proceed to Section 2 if your account is only for making Outbound calls, or to Section 3 if your account is configured to receive calls as well as place them.
